In the past 12 months, Quintana Roo has witnessed an infusion of over 50 billion pesos for the advancement of its infrastructure. The federal funding has been allocated for upgrading highways and initiating crucial development projects across the state.

Governor Mara Lezama has spearheaded several impactful initiatives, notably the Chetumal Quintana Roo Park and the ongoing construction of the Nichupté Lagoon Bridge in Cancun. Other important projects under her leadership include the expansion of Bypass 180-D, the revamping of Colosio Boulevard, the construction of a new airport cloverleaf interchange, and the renovation of Avenue Chac Mool. Additionally, she announced the Puerta al Mar beach access for the residents of Felipe Carrillo Puerto.

The extensive funding was made achievable through the collaboration with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. His commitment to revitalize the state and advance social justice spans the northern, central, and southern regions of Quintana Roo. These publicly-funded ventures are part of a broader agenda, the Comprehensive Program for the Development of Strategic Projects in Cancun, aimed at enhancing the quality of life for citizens in the south-southeastern part of the country.

Further south, the Quintana Roo Park in Chetumal, the state’s capital, is gearing up to host the new Expofer event. Central Quintana Roo, in the Mayan Zone, is also benefiting from development. The Puerta al Mar project there comprises a 55-kilometer road linking Felipe Carrillo Puerto to Vigía Chico, and construction has already commenced.

Efforts are also underway to settle historical debts, such as in Tihosuco, where investments are being made in conjunction with the federal government. These investments target street improvements and museum rehabilitation to boost community tourism, integrated with the Maya Train through Maya Ka’an.

Moreover, the year has seen significant strides in economic stimulation and job creation with the development of the new Tulum airport, named “Felipe Carrillo Puerto,” the Jaguar Park, and the Maya Train. These are landmark projects orchestrated by the federal government, designed to reshape the face of Quintana Roo for the benefit of its residents.

Governor Lezama emphasized that the year has been monumental in terms of transforming the state, highlighting that people are now at the forefront of policy decisions. This ensures that the rewards of growth are equitably distributed among the population.
