The Association of Hotels and Motels in Chetumal manages before aviation companies to increase the frequency of flights; interest in Bacalar, Mahahual and Chetumal grows in other states
The leader of hoteliers in the southern part of the State, Deborah Angulo Villanueva, said that airline executives have expressed interest in increasing their frequency of travel to Chetumal during 2020.
He stressed that interest in the attractions of this part of the entity has grown significantly, especially Bacalar, Mahahual and Chetumal, in addition to the archaeological remains.
In her capacity as president of the Association of Hotels and Motels, the informant explained that, based on that interest, tourism entrepreneurs in the southern zone will implement marketing and promotion strategies for this year.
“We will focus on strengthening interest in our destinations with airlines and tour operators that have confirmed that they want to increase frequencies,” he added.
It should be noted that one of the routes that could be specified for the second half of this year is that of Monterrey-Chetumal and is intended to boost arrivals to other cities in the north of the country.
Deborah Angulo made it clear that they would work, if possible, with the support of the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo to finalize the projects planned for this year.
He stressed that the southern zone has maintained an upward trend in hotel occupancy by going from 40.21 percent in 2015 to 52.53 percent at the end of 2019.
He added that the housing supply has increased as demand has grown, mainly due to the positioning of the main destination of this part of the entity, which is Bacalar.
He pointed out that alliances with tour operators in Bajío and the center of the country, supported by Interjet and Volaris, have allowed the arrival of more tourists and, consequently, the intention of opening new routes.
