The real estate market in southeastern Mexico is experiencing significant growth thanks to the initiatives of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), particularly the Tren Maya and the Tulum airport, according to the real estate platform Lamudi.

“Since the onset of the pandemic, this region has seen a 20 percent increase in demand for real estate investments,” highlighted Lamudi. Alberto Martínez, CEO of DIAM, a real estate investment fund, stated, “This region has several factors that make it an attractive and promising destination for real estate investment, offering unique opportunities for those looking to explore new horizons in the real estate market.”

The developer Propier, which offers lots in the southeast of the country, emphasizes the benefits of investing along the Tren Maya route. “In each of the seven stations or sections, small cities are planned with land reorganization, where 70 percent will be green areas and 30 percent urbanized land. Acquiring residential lots will bring numerous benefits in terms of buying, selling, and renting,” explains Propier on its website, as reported by El Financiero.

Additionally, Luumo Real Estate is developing real estate projects along the Tren Maya route, with at least 16 projects for subdivided land near Mérida and Cancún. “Investing in real estate is always a good idea, but investing in properties near the Tren Maya route is an excellent investment. This project will connect several states in Mexico, attracting tourism to these cities and subsequently increasing the demand for rental houses and apartments for visitors,” the company’s advertisement states.

Moreover, Diego Castañón, the candidate from the ruling Morena party for the municipal presidency of Tulum, recently presented an unprecedented infrastructure investment plan. One of the most impactful projects for Tulum’s future is the new bypass, which will enhance the city’s connectivity and roadways, fostering planned and orderly development.

These initiatives are transforming the real estate landscape in southeastern Mexico, positioning the region as a highly attractive area for investors and developers.
